Happening in Fulton: District 5 Joint Town Hall Meeting

Happening in Fulton District 5 Joint Town Hall Meeting

January 30, 2025

A Joint Town Hall Meeting on sewage expansion in South Fulton was held at the Sandtown Rec Center. Hear more from Public Works Director David Clark. The main purpose is to talk to the citizens about how we can extend sewer to existing residential neighborhoods. Most of the time when new developments come in the developer actually pays for everything to go into the infrastructure, and they include that as part of the cost of the house. In existing neighborhoods where they were developed in the 60s and 70s, a lot of those did not have sanitary sewer connections; they have septic tanks. Septic tanks usually work great for about 50 years or so. Now as these neighborhoods start getting a little bit older it's time to start looking at other options besides on-site septic tanks. One of the things that we do is try to work with the neighborhood to see if there's a way to extend sanitary sewer so that they can tie directly into it for their homes.
