Fulton County Environmental Health Services (EHS) is responsible for permitting and inspecting over 6,000 food service establishments in Fulton County. Inspections assure proper sanitation practices that minimize hazards from cross-contamination, improper cooking, handling, and temperature maintenance of foods, potable water contamination, and improper garbage and refuse disposal, and poor insect and rodent control. EHS also investigates complaints concerning improper practices in food handling that could lead to foodborne illnesses.

To operate, all Fulton County food service establishments must have a valid permit, proof of residency, and a current license from this department.

Food Service Regulations

Environmental Health Services (EHS) is responsible for the regulation of establishments where food is served to the public within Fulton County. The term “food establishment” includes restaurants, coffee shops, cafeterias, short-order cafes, luncheonettes, taverns, lunchrooms, places which sell sandwiches or salads, soda fountains, food carts, itinerant restaurants such as food trucks, industrial cafeterias, catering establishments and similar facilities by whatever name they are called.

FOOD SAFETY EDUCATION AND TRAINING SEMINARS

The office of Environmental Health Services offers the general public information and training on the Georgia regulations related to the serving of food through its series of ongoing SERVSAFE Seminars.
