Commissioner Thorne is looking forward to seeing Fulton County more publicly engaged. Hear more from District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne. Happy New Year. 2024 included many milestones and great achievements for Fulton County. We opened the new Big Creek Water Treatment Plant. It was Fulton County's largest capital project today. Not only was it on time, it was also on budget; what a great success. We ran a largely successful election and although there are still areas for improvement, we can be glad of the things we got right. This New Year presents new opportunities to increase our trust and transparency with the public. Trust is the bedrock of good governance, and there is always room to grow. This year I would like to see us engaged more with the public as we consider significant issues like the Fulton County jail and elections. We will need to respond to the DOJ report, but we cannot do this without input from the public. There is room to make our elections more transparent and accountable to everyone no matter what your political affiliation may be. We need to ensure that the public has access to view each and every process. It is only through full transparency that we can develop full trust. Thank you to the citizens of Fulton County and District 1 specifically that have entrusted me with the honor of being their Commissioner. I take this responsibility very seriously, and I look forward to continuing to serve in the upcoming year. Happy New Year.
