AFCEMA gives a weather update regarding Hurricane Helene. Hear more from Battalion Chief of Operations & Logistics Chayne Sparagowski. This is a category 1 hurricane just off the Yucatán peninsula. It is a fast moving storm which in a way is good that means the overall duration will be less for our area, however because it is fast moving the wind impacts doesn't have a chance to weaken, so those wind impacts will be greater. Right now we're looking at the possibility of 8 to 10 inches of rain in the Metro through Friday, and even some areas could see up to 15 to 20 inches. With the winds overall we're looking at 20 to 30 mph winds until Friday morning. Early Friday morning as the storm moves through, we're looking at winds possibly around 50 mph and gusting up to 70 mph; this will depend greatly on exactly where it goes.
