Fulton County Cooperative Extension is preparing to celebrate 4-H Day 2023 on Thursday, July 27. Cooperative Extension is partnering with the Atlanta History Center at 130 West Paces Ferry Rd., Atlanta, Ga., from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. to provide participants with an in-depth look into Georgia’s 4-H programs.
Attendees will receive the opportunity to meet local Cooperative Extension Agents, view livestock displays, and attend demonstrations about beekeeping, and historic farming practice. 4-H Day will take place at several locations within the Atlanta History Center, such as the Atlanta History Museum, as well as the Smith Farm, the Swan House, and its 33-acre Goizueta Gardens.
The event’s activities are representative of the focus areas within 4-H, such as: Agriculture, STEM, Healthy Living and Civic Engagement. Among the list of 13 different activities, attendees can: tour Smith Farm, visit a mobile diary, see livestock, walk through the vegetable garden, and checkout blacksmithing and woodworking demonstrations.
Historic crafts will also be available to try throughout the day, including wool carding, soap making and candle dipping.
