Septemberfest is an inclusive event for residents in District 2 to access free behavioral health services and community-based programs.

Fulton County District 2 Commissioner Bob Ellis in collaboration with the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) presents the “Septemberfest” Fall Festival on Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Fulton Service Center, 7741 Roswell Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30350.

Septemberfest will be an inclusive event for District 2 residents to access free COVID-19 vaccines, behavioral health services, Fulton County programs, services, and other community-based organizations. Commissioner Ellis will also serve as the official event host, which will include live music, wellness resources, food, family fun, giveaways, and entertainment.

“I am proud to host this event as it will not only be fun, but also introduce our residents to the great resources available in Fulton County,” said Commissioner Ellis. “Many folks are not aware of the services we provide that can benefit them and their families. Our goal has always been to respond to our citizens’ needs and this event is a chance to learn more in a festive setting.”

Foster, director of Fulton County BHDD. “At the end of the day, we must all play a role in helping our citizens by focusing on available resources and increased access to care. Septemberfest is an exciting opportunity for BHDD to collaborate with county partners to make an impact in our community.”

In 2021, the Department of BHDD was awarded a $3.9 million federal grant from the US Department of Health & Human Services to provide resources to under-served communities, encourage COVID vaccinations, and offer access to behavioral health care. The grant was in response to the Biden/Harris Administration’s National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response & Pandemic Preparedness.

In demonstrating its commitment to reaching minority populations in Fulton County, the Department of BHDD intentionally designed a community event related to COVID-19 prevention and behavioral health services.

“COVID-19 has severely impacted our communities,” said Erika Williams-Walker, Fulton County Behavioral Health Program Manager. “Our goal was to create an event that offers fun and entertainment for the entire family, while offering access to Fulton County behavioral health services - which are available to residents regardless of their income, insurance, or ability to pay. We are also proud to partner with a variety of community-based organizations who serve the North Fulton area for this event.”
