The Georgia Public Defender Council has appointed Maurice Kenner as the new Public Defender.
The Georgia Public Defender Council has appointed Maurice Kenner as the Circuit Public Defender for the Atlanta Judicial Circuit.

Kenner has worked as an attorney for nearly three decades. Prior to being appointed Circuit Public Defender of the Atlanta Judicial circuit he served as the Deputy Director of State Level Services for the Georgia Public Defender Council.

Kenner graduated from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. After graduating, he served as a prosecutorial intern in the DeKalb County Solicitor’s Office and later as the prosecutor for the City of Decatur. Kenner operated a private law practice for seventeen years before joining the Georgia Public Defender Council in December of 2010. While in private practice, Kenner defended cases ranging from stop sign violations to capital murder cases in which the State had sought the death penalty.

“The work of a Public Defender is constantly evolving to meet the needs of those we serve. I look forward to working with the citizens of Fulton County to ensure that everyone receives the necessary representation within our courts” says Kenner.
