Students will learn how to have a creative printmaking experience without a press and sewing machine. Students will draw an image on the matrix and carve out the image. Then we will print on fabric, cut, collage, and glue/sew the image back together. The objective of this course is to teach different techniques that do not require you to leave your home.
Class supplies: pencil, sharpie, small linoleum or wood block (alternatives: cardboard, styrofoam, paper plate, or inexpensive foam from Walmart) about 10”x10”, black printing ink or acrylic paint. Paint can be purchased from the Dollar Store or Walmart for about $1.00), carving tools (alternatives: x-acto knife, box cutter), brayer (alternatives: an old rolling pin or a empty paper towel roll), scraps of different color fabric; lighter brighter colors work better than dark (alternatives: old t-shirts or pillowcases) about 10”x 10”, fabric glue (alternatives: hot glue gun, glue sticks, or Elmer’s glue might work temporarily), needle, thread, paint brushes (alternatives: Q-tips)
