The mission of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Human Resources is to:
Sheriff, Deputy in this class is a sworn officer responsible for providing law enforcement services with Fulton County to prevent crimes, preserve the peace, and make security to County buildings and other public areas, including courtrooms and detention areas; processing and securing inmates at the Fulton County Jail; transporting inmates; or serving warrants as assigned. Sheriff, Deputy is authorized to use deadly force when necessary.
Experience & Training:Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of an Associate's Degree, or two (2) years work experience as a law enforcement or certified peace officer with full arrest power; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those above.
Licensing requirements: Valid State of Georgia driver's license, Georgia POST Certification (to be obtained within six (6) months of employment), and Jailer Certification Course. (Fulton County Detention Officers may exchange four (4) years of service and successful completion of Georgia POST for the educational requirement for Sheriff, Deputy.)

Detention Officers in this class performs duties related to monitoring inmates, screening inmate visitation, and securing detention facilities. Responsibilities include supervising inmate work details, generating reports maintaining records, and assisting Sheriff, Deputies in transporting inmates to various facilities.
Experience & Training: Completion of course work equivalent to the academic requirements of a High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and one (1) year experience performing public safety, security, corrections, or customer service duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those above.
Licensing requirements: Valid State of Georgia driver's license, and Jail Officer training certification issued through the Georgia POST.

Volunteer - Be a Reserve Deputy!
Our Reserve Deputies work in every division of the Sheriff's Office and their duties include, but are not limited to Civil Service, Warrants, Courts, Jail, Crowd Control, and Charitable events. The Reserve also staffs a Training Unit which trains members of our office, as well as law enforcement officers from other agencies throughout the State of Georgia.
Eligibility Requirement: Candidates’ must be at least 21 years of age at the time of membership. Must be in good physical health with no disabling physical condition. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must not have history of criminal or improper personal conduct that may affect suitability for police work. Must possess a United States high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Must have United States Citizenship. Must be able to pass a rigorous background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam, and drivers history review.
Training :Reserve Deputy cadets will receive 408 hours of state certified instruction, the same training as all full-time law enforcement officers in the State of Georgia. Classes are held at the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center in College Park. The training schedule normally follows this format:
Current Georgia certified peace officer applicants will not be required to attend the academy.
Normal in-service training occurs monthly and can range from 2-hour to 4-hour blocks of instruction.
