Vehicles in Fulton County may be impounded by one of many different law enforcement agencies, including the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, the Fulton County Marshal's Department, or the Fulton County Police Department. Vehicles may also be impounded by city, state or college campus police agencies. If you were issued a traffic citation, you should contact that agency for information about release of your vehicle.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR VEHICLE RELEASE BY FULTON COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
All documents must be original. No copies will be accepted.
If you are the owner of the vehicle, you must have the following original documentation:
1.Proof of ownership - Title or Valid Registration
2.Bill of sale - if purchased within the last 25 days
3.Proof of current valid insurance
4.Valid State ID
If you are not the owner, and you are to pick up a vehicle for the owner, you must have the following notarized original documents in addition to the owner's original documentation listed above:
Marshal's Office - Vehicle Owner Release Form

◾A notarized power of attorney
◾A notarized letter from the owner giving you permission to pick up the vehicle. Letter must contain vehicle year, make, model and VIN. The letter must state that the owner will not hold Fulton County or the responding agency liable for releasing the vehicle.
If you are repossessing the vehicle, you must have the following original documents:
1.A notarized hold harmless letter
2.Contract between lien holder and owner
3.Title
4.Notarized affidavit stating that the owner is in default of contract
5.Notarized form stating who will pick up the vehicle. The form must include vehicle year, make, model, and VIN.
