Tonya Boykin

With an unwavering commitment to justice and integrity, Tonya Boykin has devoted over 20 years to upholding fairness and accountability within the legal system. A seasoned trial attorney, she blends her passion for advocacy with a proven ability to achieve exceptional results in complex and high-profile cases. Her steadfast dedication to protecting victims’ rights and promoting transparency continues to define her work at the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Tonya began her career in Kinston, North Carolina, where she prosecuted a wide range of cases, including traffic offenses, misdemeanors, and serious felonies. As the domestic violence prosecutor, she implemented impactful policies that significantly reduced incidents of domestic abuse. After relocating to Atlanta with her family, she joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases involving child abuse, sex crimes, and other violent offenses in the Crimes Against Women and Children Unit. During her tenure, Tonya secured numerous trial victories, received multiple awards for her work on high-profile cases, and played a pivotal role in advocating for legislative changes to Georgia’s Child Hearsay law.

Tonya later transitioned into private practice, managing a diverse caseload, successfully trying civil cases, and achieving exceptional results in client defense. However, her deep commitment to public service and public safety drew her back to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Upon her return, Tonya served in the Civil Rights Unit, where she investigated and prosecuted officer-involved shootings and use-of-force incidents involving law enforcement. Her outstanding contributions earned her the prestigious Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Civil Rights. Today, she leads the Anti-Corruption Unit, overseeing investigations and prosecutions of public officials accused of criminal misconduct and abuse of power.

Tonya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication Studies from Howard University and a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law. A dedicated community member, she is actively involved in her church and proudly serves as a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys.
