Reducing Homelessness in Fulton County, GA

Reducing homelessness is a complex, human issue. There is no single solution that fits every person or situation. Also, the number of homeless is not static. People are moving in and out of homelessness daily. Undoubtedly, in the United States and abroad, people will experience poverty and the complexities of human crisis. We will never eradicate homelessness, but we believe we can decrease the ebb and flow of homelessness in Fulton County, GA by working collaboratively with community partners.

 

The Department of Community Development partners with more than 40 organizations to provide services for homeless individuals and families.

REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE
The Fulton County Homeless Division Assessment Centers service Fulton County citizens who reside in Fulton County outside of the City of Atlanta.

WHO WE ARE
The Fulton County Homeless Assessment Centers serve as the coordinated entry access points for North and South Fulton County residents experiencing homelessness.

WHAT WE DO
Coordinated entry is the process through which people experiencing homelessness in North and South Fulton County can access housing assessments, emergency shelter placement, be referred to diversion and homeless prevention services, and be linked to long-term housing resources.

Los Centros de Evaluación para Personas sin Hogar del Condado de Fulton (Fulton County Homeless Assessment Centers) sirven como puntos de acceso de entrada coordinados para los residentes del norte y sur del Condado de Fulton que no tienen hogar.

QUÉ HACEMOS
La entrada coordinada es el proceso a través del cual las personas que no tienen hogar en el norte y sur del condado de Fulton pueden acceder a evaluaciones de vivienda, colocación en refugios de emergencia, ser derivadas a servicios de desvío y prevención de la falta de hogar y estar vinculadas a recursos de vivienda a largo plazo.

The Fulton County 502 Continuum of Care is governed by a 15 member Board, 7 of which are appointed for 2-year terms by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed ;

  • To promote community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness.
  • Provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and State and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness
  • Promote access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families
  • Optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The Continuum of Care is governed by the CoC Board as defined in the HEARTH Act Interim Rule
