The Department of Arts & Culture presents "What Risk Have You Taken Lately," a solo exhibition featuring the work of artist Michael "Jiggy Korean" Coleman. Coleman's series of works, titled "Risky Business," utilizes his unique artistic style known as "Dramatic Pop" to resonate with viewers' personal life journeys. Fulton Films Office Presents Special Screening of "Olympic Pride: American Prejudice"

Just days before the 2024 Olympics kick-off in Paris, the Fulton Films (GA) Office, in partnership with the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film, Entertainment, & Nightlife, will present a special free screening of the acclaimed documentary "Olympic Pride, American Prejudice” at the Historic Tara Theatre (2345 Cheshire Bridge Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30324) on Friday, July 19, from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. The Talkback session begins at 2:35 p.m.
Following the screening, Director and Fulton County Filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper will discuss her inspiration for the film. Former Olympic Medalists Edwin Moses, Antonio McKay, Shirley Meadows, and Melvin Pender, Jr. will share firsthand accounts of their Olympic journeys and the long history of struggles for equality on the world stage.
The special screening and other Fulton Films initiatives help to drive economic development in Fulton County. This focus on economic growth through the film sector serves as a testament to Fulton County's strategic investment in supporting industries that enhance both its economic vitality and cultural appeal. "Cross Cultural Variation: The Perceptions of Color", featuring the photographic works of artist Michael Reese on June 22, 2024 from 6-9pm. This exhibit explores the differences in belief, values, behaviors, and practices observed among different cultures around the world. The exhibit runs through July 19, 2024, and is free and open to the public.
To celebrate our decade of creativity, we invite you to join us for a night of culture, community, and live music. In addition to the featured exhibition, we will also be showcasing a historic figures in aviation exhibit and a group exhibit of artists who have displayed their original works of art at Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center during our first ten years.
