Fulton County Celebrates National Public Works Week

National Public Works Week is May 19 – 25, 2024 and Fulton County is celebrating. The Fulton County Board of Commissioners marked the occasion with a presentation of a proclamation to the Department of Public Works during its meeting on Wednesday, May 15.

The national observance, sponsored by the American Public Works Association, was instituted in 1960. The Fulton County Department of Public Works will spend the week highlighting staff and the services provided.

The 2024 theme "Advancing Quality of Life for All” shines a spotlight on the way public works professionals advance our quality of life, whether as a first responder to a water outage, maintenance of a traffic signal, or a myriad of other ways they silently serve their communities.

“The Public works professionals in Fulton County advance the quality of life for all residents by maintaining sanitary sewer and water distribution systems; providing water and pollution prevention education to residents, businesses, schools, and communities; maintaining roads and traffic signals in the unincorporated areas; and, performing the maintenance of all access roads, runways, ramps, and parking lots at the Fulton County Executive Airport at Brown Field,” said Director of Public Works, David Clark. “They are what make our communities dynamic places to live and work. Our hard working and dedicated staff are vital to the quality of life and well-being of the people of Fulton County. This team is committed to providing support for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
