Positive Youth Development, “PYD” is an approach that incorporates the development of skills, opportunities, and authentic relationships into programs, practices, and policies, so that young people reach their full potential. A PYD approach deliberately seeks to increase the number of protective factors surrounding a young person that can translate into more positive social behaviors and reduced risk-taking behaviors.
