Fulton County Senior Services to Host the Georgia Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

August 08, 2022

Fulton County Senior Services to Host the Georgia Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). The Georgia SFMNP provides seniors with greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Georgia Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides eligible seniors age 60 years and above with vouchers that can be exchanged for fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from
authorized farmers at designated market sites. The vouchers are issued on a first-come, first-served basis until all are distributed.

Through this partnership, Fulton County Senior Services and the Atlanta Regional Commission will be able to serve up to 350 senior residents by improving senior nutrition options and
decreasing food insecurity.

In an effort to increase the incentive further, the Georgia SFMNP promotes Georgia grown produce and individual local farmers. This summer, the farmer selected for the Senior Services
markets is Georgia Roots Urban Farm. The Georgia SFMNP’s primary goal is to increase consumption of produce by promoting the expansion of market sites.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a drive-through and pickup strategy was developed to ensure full compliance with CDC guidelines. As such, the market sites will be held from 10:00
a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the following locations:

• August 9, 2022 - H.J.C. Bowden Multipurpose Facility, 2885 Church St., East Point, GA
