Rachael Groffsky grew up in Michigan and received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University in 2004. She attended Cooley Law School for her Juris Doctorate and graduated in 2006 with cum laude honors. After her graduation, Rachael moved to North Carolina and became a member of the North Carolina bar in 2009. Rachael began her career in public service by working for Legal Aid of North Carolina. She then moved to the 30th Prosecutorial District in Western North Carolina as an assistant district attorney in January 2010 where she prosecuted hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases. In January 2015, Rachael joined the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office in Asheville, North Carolina where she was a team leader and worked exclusively on child and adult sex cases and domestic violence cases.

At the end of 2016, Rachael moved to Georgia and became a member of the Georgia bar. Rachael was an assistant district attorney in the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office from February 2017 until December 2020 where she prosecuted hundreds of felony cases of all different severity as a trial attorney and as a managing attorney. Rachael resides in Gwinnett County with her husband, stepdaughter, and two dogs.
