New Orleans native DaShawn Raymond moved to Atlanta in 2005. In September 2021, he joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as a Senior Investigator in the Major Crimes Division/Gang Unit until his appointment as Assistant Chief of the Major Crimes Division.

He previously worked for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years, reaching the rank of Deputy Sheriff Sergeant. Throughout his tenure, his assignments included the Field Operations Division, Narcotics Division, and the Gang Unit. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming the first Cobb County Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Cobb Anti-Gang Enforcement (CAGE), a partnership in which he investigated criminal street gang activity in the community and in the jail. He was able to obtain 20 criminal street gang warrants for acts committed inside the Cobb County Adult Detention Center within a one-year span.

He has obtained more than 1800 hours of GA POST training in his law enforcement career. He holds multiple law enforcement certifications: field training officer; P.O.S.T. instructor; defensive tactics instructor; SWAT Level 1; crisis intervention training; search and seizure; search warrants; interviews and interrogations; drug identification; D.E.A. Clandestine Lab (Quantico); GGIA Basic Gang Investigator; narcotics and gang investigations; gang recognition and identification; and gang prosecution.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, going on vacation, and coaching youth basketball and football.
