Lamman Rucker began his career on the daytime soap operas As the World Turns and All My Children, before roles in The Temptations, Tyler Perry's films Why Did I Get Married?, Why Did I Get Married Too?, and Meet the Browns. Rucker was cast in the male lead role opposite Anne Heche in the NBC comedy series Save Me, and also had a regular role opposite Mena Suvari in the WE tv drama series, South of Hell. In 2015, Rucker was cast as one of leads in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series, Greenleaf. In the longstanding series, he played Jacob Greenleaf, the eldest son. Rucker is currently co-starring in The Black Hamptons on BET+ as Anthony Johnson.

Away from the big and small screen, Rucker is an activist and promotes healthy living, access to fair and free elections, and participates in various civic and community based programs and events.
