Lieutenant Smith is from Chicago Illinois with 28 years of Law Enforcement experience. She began her law enforcement career in Chicago in 1995 as a Deputy Sheriff in the Cook County Correctional Facility in which she spent 10 years. Lt. Smith decided during her career to train with the Military Police and transferred to the Cook County Sheriffs Boot Camp as a drill instructor. This was a very successful diversion program within corrections which allowed her to be able to help first time young adult offenders with better choices.
She moved to Atlanta Georgia in 2004 and began her career with the Fulton County Police Department where she is presently employed. She had her eyes set on Community Policing and after working patrol for 5 years joined the COPS (Community Oriented Police) unit. Lt. Smith has engaged the community ever since, attending High schools, Middle and Elementary Schools, Community Events, Neighborhood Watches and various community programs that are geared toward improving the partnerships with the police and its citizens. Lt. Smith is currently assigned to the Fulton County Police Security Division where she continues the effort in encouraging positive relationships between the Fulton County Police Department and its citizens.
