Unpacking Healthcare Social Determinants of Health event

Atlanta Area Outreach Initiative (AAOI) will host an “Unpacking Healthcare: Social Determinants of Health” event from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Loudermilk Center off 40 Courtland St., Atlanta, GA 30303.

This event, spearheaded by the Metropolitan Atlanta HIV Health Services Planning Council, the planning body of the Ryan White Part A Program, will address the various needs and challenges within HIV care comprehensively. Agenda topics include presentations regarding health equity, the significance of advocacy, nutrition, substance abuse, voting, inclusivity, consumer engagement, mental health, homeownership, and social determinants of health.

The strategies developed during this conference are geared toward addressing both immediate needs, as well as sustainable long-term solutions to promote an equitable and healthier future for all. This event represents a testament of Fulton County’s unwavering commitment to the community.

According to the county’s Department of HIV Elimination Web pages, Fulton County is ranked sixth-highest among U.S. counties for new HIV diagnoses, with an infection rate that doubles that of the rest of Georgia. Fulton County’s Department of HIV Elimination, formerly known as Ryan White, improves the availability and quality of core medical services to support low-income, uninsured or underinsured individuals within the 20-County Atlanta Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) who have been impacted by HIV.
Event attendees will have access to childcare, breaks, lunch and Marta Breeze Cards for this event. To register for this annual care and prevention initiative, visit https://bit.ly/AAOI2024
