Cara Convery is an attorney with a demonstrated dedication to service. Cara graduated from The University of Miami Law School in Coral Gables, Florida, and she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia. With over nine years of legal experience, Cara has substantial experience handling complex felony criminal cases, including many multiple defendants, difficult and high-profile cases in Georgia’s most demanding setting as a Prosecutor for a wide variety of serious felony charges. Cara has extensive experience representing the State of Georgia in criminal prosecutions, having served as a prosecutor in both the Cobb and Atlanta Judicial Circuits. Cara first served the community as an Assistant Solicitor General for the Cobb Judicial Circuit. Prior to her work as a prosecutor, Cara worked as an Attorney in private practice representing clients in jurisdictions around the State with a focus on Criminal Defense work.

While serving the community as a prosecutor, Cara has handled hundreds of felony cases from arrest to trial, including high profile murder prosecutions and the prosecution of many violent Criminal Street Gang Members. Cara has had the opportunity to work within the Atlanta Judicial Circuit in the Trial Unit, Crimes Against Women and Children Division, Major Case Homicide Unit, and the Circuit’s Gang Unit as Deputy District Attorney. In addition to her achievements in trial practice, Cara also leads a group of attorneys in the Gang Unit, handling some of the County’s most serious cases. Cara has worked closely with our Law Enforcement partners from all over the State to develop and prosecute cases with the highest level of care and skill. During Cara’s rise through the District Attorney’s Office, she was recognized for her trial skills and accomplishments in the field, receiving awards including the “Woman of the Year – Rising Phoenix” Award in 2017, the Lewis Slaton “Highest Achievement Award” in 2018 and the District Attorney’s Office “Attorney of the Year” Award in 2019. Cara now employs her litigation experience, courtroom competence, and commitment to the mission of a Prosecutor, to serve the citizens of Fulton County.
