Fulton County Behavioral Health Professionals Prepare for Live Discussion on Coping with Fear and Anxiety

Fulton County’s Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities will continue efforts to remind Fulton County residents that professional behavioral health services are available through a State of Mental Health Panel Discussion Friday May 22, 2020 at 1 p.m. as a part of Mental Health Awareness Month. The exchange of information during “The Current State of Mental Health” Panel Discussion will address mental health concerns arising out of the restrictions related to the spread of COVID-19 throughout Georgia and the U. S.  Viewers will have access to Fulton County Behavioral Health professionals as well as those who will have first-hand knowledge and advice for those who may be facing personal coping challenges.

Panelists will cover a variety of issues facing residents such as coping with unemployment or financial stress related to unemployment and anxiety.  Other discussion issues will involve staying in recovery from drug addictions, coping with stress and anxiety felt by youth faced with school shutdowns and the disruption of face-to-face relationships with friends as well as cancellations of traditional rites of passage such as proms and graduations.

Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Director LaTrina Foster will serve as Moderator. Panelists will include:

• Ryan Cole who is in recovery from opioid addiction,
• Teen, Alijah Walker and his parent Electra Evans
• Lucy Hall, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mary Hall Freedom House who has also been in long term recovery and supports those in recovery throughout the year
• Chelsea Montgomery, Executive Director, Counseling, Psychological, and Social Work Services - Fulton County Schools

The Panel Discussion will be held through a Zoom Webinar.  The event can be accessed at www.youtube.com/user/FultonGovernmentTV/. Viewers who want to submit questions to panelists without being live can submit them to social@fultoncountyga.gov
